Riding in The Netherlands: always a pleasure!

IMG_20160527_130348Trying to “escape” to cycle only in my own neighborhood, also means to take the chance to combine business trips, city trips, all trips with cycling at those locations. In this case my wife attended the TNW conference in Amsterdam. I came over one day later, cycled on Friday and we had a very nice prolonged stay until Saturday evening.

Always a pleasure to cycle in The Netherlands, a real cycling country with very good infrastructure. My route (found via RouteYou) was also very varied: part in the city, in the polder, at the coast, in the dunes, through little villages; and almost always crossing or bordering water (and beside the Amstel during the last part).

Again I made intensive use of the GoPro; I count the photos below (mostly GoPro, some Nexus 6 smartphone) give you a good impression of my route and the beauty of it.

Some final remarks on this ride and my photo/video “workflow”:

  • Nice route found on RouteYou, but very frustrating that the GPX file was of a bad quality: very often distant points were just connected by a straight line …
  • I’m still more a photo than a video person: I like to select photos, edit them, adjust them, …
  • I’m not yet fully convinced that I want to put time and effort in editing videos, stitching them together, etc. And I certainly need to ameliorate my skills on video editing.
